What you might not be aware of
"Walking on a staircase can be a bit of an E=mc2 moment in my life, meaning I can’t remember what those things at the end of my legs are for. They look cute in my tall Dr Martens boots, but every so often, I do wonder about them. Do I lift, drop or kick them sideways or not, or are they for decorative reasons only?"
Game, set, relapse!
"In short, if I’d have to sell myself with these words, I still wouldn't receive a Booker prize. I could post “Another MS Relapse” award on the fireplace mantel, but they’re just a waste of space. I thought of referring to a relapse as something you just have to get your teeth in, but I don't want to steal Luis Suárez's limelight."
Fierce Friday
Ah yes, sometimes my nerves – not nervous system – sometimes my nerves get on my nerves as it were. I happen to coexist with a messed up central nervous system, overly active heartbeat, breathing problems and every now and then I find myself covered with a nice infection or two. If that wasn’t enough, I have a few pet peeves, which on occasion drive me crazy. Ψ Screeching kids in shopping centers. On buses, in cinemas, in my ear. Ψ Said kids kicking my seat in the cinema. How to solve this? ♫♫ Sitting in the back row of the movies ♫♫
Liebster Award! (no. 4)
Here is the other Liebster Award that was sitting here idly without being forwarded. Tamie’s Realm kindly nominated me and needless to say, I am very happy about it! As always, nominations – which are winners in WordPress blog terminology – need to follow a few steps when passing on the award. Here are the rules for this particular Liebster Award: 1. Each nominee must link back the person who nominated them. 2. Answer the 10 questions which are given to you by the nominator. 3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for this award who have less than 200 followers. 4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer. 5. Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.
Boots!
Favourite footwear? Well, this is an easy one and one that will perhaps start boring you soon if or when I keep on posting pictures of my Dr Martens boots! For those new to my blog… erm… yes… the loving relationship between boots and humans is a very real one! The boots match my character completely, different, alternative and a mind of my own. The Doc Martens official website says that “a continuous succession of cultural renegades” have adopted the boots as a sign of “independence, uniqueness, and individuality.”
Princesses and Docs
Clothes are an important part of my life. Never pleased with just the ordinary, what everyone else wears these days, I try to find clothes that will always bring that “Oh, that is so you, Billie!” Different, alternative and indeed, that “typically me” type of clothes. Dr Martens boots matched with pretty dresses have been my style for the past two years. Grace to an injured Achilles tendon, I had to find boots that encapsulated my foot, hence again falling for Dr Martens boots. I haven’t looked back since; two years later I still wear them as much as possible. In fact, I hate summers, partly because it is simply too warm outside to wear them. Only this morning I took Instagram pictures from my boots surrounded by fallen leaves…
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
As the days grow shorter and temperatures colder, it is time to welcome autumn, and indeed, what should be a small new lease of life. There is nothing more comforting and relaxing than seeing daylight fade early in the evening. Darkness captures me, telling me that time has come to cuddle up on the couch, book in hand, comfy blanket to warm my feet and a hot cup of tea to warm my hands. Candlelight shadows perform magic dances on the wall, and I slowly feel energy being restored inside my body. My Doc boots have been standing idle in a corner of my bedroom, waiting to be walked in again. My winter coat never left the clothes rail in the hallway, covered by a light canvas to keep it…
