My precious boots!
WordPress Daily Prompt: These Boots Were Made for Walking Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you. Photographers, artists, poets: show us WALK. Already blogged about my favourite boots on April 1st, 2013, so for those who want to read it, here’s the link: Iconic and Princesses and Docs I’m one day late replying to this Daily Prompt but just wanted to showcase my Dr Martens boots again. I know… just can’t get enough of them!
Time to recharge
MS is as MS does. It drains your energy levels, your thinking goes haywire over the silliest things and it well… it simply plays tricks on you. Only last week I had my right arm swing all over my bedside table, but not where it had to be. Thankfully I was alone, in my bed and away from people. Having court cases because of accidentally thumping people in the face on the street is not what I envisage my near future to be.
Iconic
Symbolism is all around us, and you only need to lift your eyelashes once to be immediately inspired. Iconic. My left foot is indeed something of an iconic thing that is hell-bent on creating trouble. Past ruptures of Achilles tendons, flipping ankles, falling over my own feet… they have seen and done it all. However, when I was told I would have to start wearing ‘proper’ shoes and that I would have to add special insoles to stabilize my left foot, I had to rethink my existing shoe wardrobe yet again. Ballerina shoes, Converse All Stars, high heels, flip-flops and Uggs do not make good footwear, at least not when your feet have a mind of their own. Apparently, Clarks shoes would not be suitable anymore either, and since I…
Happy Christmas!
To those who have been bombarded with blog posts over the past few weeks: be merry and be joyful because from tomorrow onwards I will have less time to write… and your mailboxes will not be targeted by new notifications for a while 😀 My jet plane will drop me off somewhere between The Netherlands and France to spend Christmas with my family. Needless to say, I am quite looking forward to it… presents are wrapped, books were chosen to read while resting, phone backed up and synched with new music and suitcase about to be filled. No, not taking 5 pairs of shoes this time, only the one pair of Dr. Martens‘ boots that suit my every style!
Gratitude: a burdening emotion?
What a week in politics, human and animal rights it has been. Palestinians and Israelis were calling each other terrorists among other terms of endearment. Wolves were still being hunted in the US; dolphins had been massacred in the Gulf of Mexico and other niceties in the animal kingdom came to the fore. No, this had not been an easy week for this world. And then there was NYPD officer Larry DePrimo… Humanity. Humility. Goodwill. Empathy. And most of all: simply a good person. He gave a homeless man new socks and shoes when he found him without footwear sitting next to a shoe shop in Times Square.
Summer, not to me
It’s back! It’s here again and boy I love it! “It” is autumn, and those of you in my physical surroundings know that I live for autumn. And winter. And hey, maybe spring too if it’s not too warm outside! “It” means fresh and clean air entering my lungs and a bit more energy in my old’ bones. “It” also means I feel alive, oh yes I do!
