    La Sagrada Família

WordPress Daily Prompt “Anachronism (noun): an error in chronology; a person or thing that’s chronologically out of place. Write a story in which a person or thing is out of place, or recount a time when you felt out of place. Photographers, artists, poets: show us ANACHRONISM.” There is no better way to display anachronism than with the La Sagrada Família cathedral in Barcelona, Spain (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family). Left unfinished by Antoni Gaudi, old and new are built into one big cathedral, with two distinct architectural styles. It is of yet unfinished, hoping the project will be completed in time for the centennial of Gaudi’s death. “Though construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882, Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and…

    Blog Awards Ireland 2013

Yesterday I found out that a friend nominated me for an Ireland 2013 Blog Award. Needless to say I am chuffed, and blessed! In return I want people to know how honoured I am to have gathered so many followers who are interested in what I bring. Even if you don’t blog yourself, you are the backbone of my reason for writing and I happily return the favour by reading and seeing your work. Reading individual stories often makes me chuckle and laugh, think and discuss. Since there are only a few days left to vote for the Ireland 2013 Blog Awards, I have a favour to ask you. Since finding out that there is even such a thing like Ireland Blog Awards, I’d be totally in awe if you…

    The virtue of books

Writing is cathartic, it empties your mind of needless clutter and thoughts that make you feel unhappy, unheard. I started writing as a way to deal with an illness that cannot be cured, but it turned into much more: a passion, a craze. If you write for the right reasons, you add value to your life. If you do not write to get published, and you’re not looking for recognition or fame, then you’re writing because you have to write. You just need to write. You cannot but write. Acknowledgement is nice, but it is not why I sit down with an empty, white page in front of me; it is not my goal. I write because I want to share. Where a painter picks up his brush, I have…
