Humans Multiple Sclerosis
When it comes down to awareness-raising and thought-provoking initiatives in the health charity sector, fresh ideas are often hard to find. Not so for Joan, a dear friend of mine. After her original Selfie Book idea created by her regional MS branch for World MS Day in 2015, Joan wanted to expand this Facebook idea and create a book for newly diagnosed people. Her own diagnosis – raw, no counselling, no management plan or words of inspiration from others who already walked down the same path, was something she wished had gone differently. In short, Joan was looking for a sign of hope, and something “telling me how people can get on with living a good life and that it wasn’t the end.” She introduced her Humans Multiple Sclerosis project to the Irish Minister of Health…

#bloggies2015 – Longlisted! Again!
And then there was that other happy thing that happened today: the longlist publication of the Blog Awards Ireland 2015 competition. I have YOU to thank for entering my blog, and for continuing to welcome new posts and ideas. Needless to say, I equally welcome the time you spend reading and commenting on my blog. Because this is my 3rd time being longlisted (and because I am my own harshest critic), my next goal is finding my name on the shortlist. That’s when I feel most comfortable, a little bit of a challenge, you, my laptop, that urge and the ever-present need to champion patient rights and raise public awareness on what life with an invisible illness is like. Each day, in fact, I wish I could write more. I…
Ireland Blog Awards 2014 certificates
Happy days! The certificates of the Ireland Blog Awards 2014 finalists arrived today so I can now frame them and give them a nice place on my walls. I want to thank everyone once again for voting me in, and for the continuous support. Without sounding too cliché, I would not be able to keep on writing if it wasn’t for all the good intentions, friendship and love you’ve given me so far. © Willeke Van Eeckhoutte and Ireland, Multiple Sclerosis & Me, 2011-2014. Liebster Award with a twist!
Yesterday I came upon a blog post by one of my top favourite bloggers Experienced Tutors. Dean was given another blog award but because of getting so many, wanted to skip the usual format of forwarding the award and instead do something else altogether. This tutor loves bending the rules for fun, and who could blame him. In Dean’s own words: “I have decided not to pass the award on directly but those of you want it and are willing to pass it on must earn it. So, the rule is, you need to complete the following sentence: “I would love to receive the Liebster Award from Experienced Tutors because. . . ” This is not a competition because all who reply will receive the award.“
